Lawn Weed Killers
| Pre Emergence As the name suggests, pre-emergent weed killer kills the weeds before they emerge (i.e It kills the weed seeds as they start to germinate). These types of weed killers are generally watered in, and here is the question ! Where do I water? Killing perenial lawn weed takes a little planning, and it will take many months to eradicate them. The next issue is not letting the weeds. Flowering weeds, means you are loosing the battle as thousands of seeds can be produced by one plant. Finally weed seeds can lye dormant for years. so again diligence and patiance is required. The other alternative is to blast the entire lawn - EXPENSIVE! Fortunately perenial weeds tend to invade only certain areas of the lawn (unless the problem has been left a long time). The best bet is to photograph the areas where you have identified the weeds and systematically repeat this process. As a guide apply in Spring and again in Autumn is a good approach. Note: Perenial weeds can appear twice or more per year depending on weather conditions. |

| Post Emergence The second type is post emergence which can be sprayed on the weeds that you identify. This type must be selective as other weed killers will also kill the grass. Bottles of concentrate can be purchsed from us. The liquid should be diluted to around 1 - 2 %. If all the weeds are not killed then re-apply. It will generally take 2 to 3 weeks (depending on weather) before anything is seen dying. Do not increase the strength of the solution as you will run the risk of killing the grass. |

Most "weed killer" or "weed and feed" products contain a combination of two to four active ingredients (herbicidal chemicals).
Only a few herbicides are both effective and approved for home use. Therefore, if you pick any two bottles of either straight "weed killer" or "weed and feed", chances are good that they share active ingredients, regardless of the manufacturer.
On the other hand, different varieties of WeedBGon don't necessarily contain the same active ingredients (chemicals) in the same proportion. There is no rule that prevents a company from changing the formulations of their "trade names".
Because of its ability to produce its own food (Nitrogen), clover can be useful in an un-watered area that needs to be kept
green (not a lawn, but also not a field). Strim or mow at 3" or above
and the clover will not need watering.
